Annapurna Circuit Trek ( 21 Days)

Annapurna Circuit Trek – Nepal’s Classic Himalayan Adventure

Trip Overview

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most famous trekking adventures. This incredible journey takes you around the magnificent Annapurna Massif and offers breathtaking mountain views, diverse landscapes, rich culture, and unforgettable Himalayan experiences.

This 21-day Annapurna Circuit Trek is perfect for trekkers who want to experience Nepal’s natural beauty, traditional mountain villages, and the thrill of crossing one of the world’s highest trekking passes. Along the route, you will walk through lush forests, deep valleys, alpine meadows, and high mountain deserts while enjoying spectacular views of the Himalayas.

Journey Through Diverse Landscapes

The Annapurna Circuit Trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Khudi, the starting point of the adventure. The trail passes through beautiful rice terraces, waterfalls, pine forests, suspension bridges, and traditional Gurung, Thakali, and Manangi villages.

As you gain altitude, the scenery changes dramatically. Green hills gradually transform into rugged mountain landscapes surrounded by snow-covered peaks and ancient Tibetan-influenced settlements.

Cross the Famous Thorong La Pass

One of the biggest highlights of the Annapurna Circuit Trek is crossing the spectacular Thorong La Pass (5,416m), one of the highest trekking passes in the world. Although the climb is challenging, the panoramic mountain views from the top make every step worthwhile.

After crossing the pass, you descend to the sacred pilgrimage site of Muktinath Temple, an important destination for both Hindus and Buddhists.

Explore the World’s Deepest Gorge

The trek also takes you through the famous Kali Gandaki Gorge, which is considered one of the world’s deepest river gorges. On one side stands Annapurna I (8,091m), while Dhaulagiri (8,167m) rises dramatically on the other, creating one of Nepal’s most spectacular mountain landscapes.

Sunrise at Poon Hill

Another unforgettable experience is the early morning hike to Poon Hill (3,210m). The sunrise over Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, and Hiunchuli creates one of the best panoramic viewpoints in Nepal.

Culture and Local Experience

The Annapurna Circuit Trek passes through villages inhabited by Gurung, Thakali, Manangi, and Tibetan communities. Along the way, you can visit ancient monasteries, prayer wheels, chortens, and traditional tea houses while learning about local culture and Himalayan lifestyles.

Trip Facts

Best Season

Spring (March to mid May) and Autumn (mid Sept to Dec) are the best seasons for the Annapurna Circuit Trekking. The weather is sunny and warm, with outstanding views. But the nights are cold and can fall to freezing point in higher elevations. Winter (Dec, Jan, Feb) is also good for Annapurna Circuit trek. Only issue is cold (obviously) and might be problem due to obstructed pass due to ice or snow. The trekking routes are crowded during Spring and Autumn but during Monsoon and Winter the routes are not packed and we could enjoy rather best of nature.
