Day to Day Itinerary


Kharta Valley Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Lhasa and Acclimatization

Fly to Lhasa on a scenic trans-Himalayan flight. During the approximately
one-hour flight, you may enjoy spectacular aerial views of
Mount Everest and other Himalayan peaks, depending on
weather and visibility.

Upon arrival in Lhasa, you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of
the day is reserved for acclimatization. Drink plenty of
water, rest well and allow your body to adjust to the high altitude.

Day 02: Lhasa Sightseeing

Explore the iconic Potala Palace and
Jokhang Temple. Later, walk along Barkhor Street, the
lively market area surrounding Jokhang Temple, where you can discover local
products, handicrafts and traditional Tibetan culture.

Day 03: Lhasa Sightseeing

Spend the morning visiting Drepung Monastery. After lunch,
continue to Sera Monastery. Enjoy the Sera Kora walk for
approximately one hour and, if available, observe the famous
monks’ debate before returning to Lhasa.

Day 04: Drive to Shigatse – 4 to 5 Hours

Drive from Lhasa to Shigatse, following the scenic Lhasa
River valley. In the afternoon, visit the impressive
Tashilhunpo Monastery. Overnight at a hotel in Shigatse.

Day 05: Drive to Kharta and Begin Trekking

Drive toward Kharta Valley, where you leave the main
highway and begin your trek. Our crew will set up the first campsite.
Depending on weather and visibility, you can expect magnificent views of
Mount Everest, Lhotse and Cho Oyu.

Day 06: Trek Through the Kharta Valley

Continue trekking toward the spectacular Himalayan mountain ranges. Along
the trail, enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Makalu and Mount
Everest
. Overnight at camp.

Day 07: Trek to Tangmoche – 4,350 m

Continue trekking through the remote Himalayan landscape toward
Tangmoche at approximately 4,350 meters. The trek takes
around 4 to 5 hours. Overnight at camp.

Day 08: Trek to Sagar – Approximately 4,800 m

Trek toward Sagar, located at approximately
4,800 meters. Enjoy the dramatic high-altitude scenery
and peaceful wilderness along the trail. The trek takes approximately
4 to 5 hours. Overnight at camp.

Day 09: Trek to Pola Valley via Doya Ri – 5,300 m

Today’s trek takes you toward Pola Valley via
Doya Ri at approximately 5,300 meters. This is one of the
more challenging days of the trek, requiring around 7 to 8 hours of walking.
Overnight at camp.

Day 10: Trek and Drive to Everest Base Camp – 5,150 m

Trek for approximately 3 hours before continuing by vehicle toward
Everest Base Camp at around 5,150 meters. Enjoy the
incredible Himalayan surroundings and spend the night at camp.

Day 11: Excursion to Rongbuk Glacier

Explore the spectacular Rongbuk Glacier and enjoy
magnificent views of Mount Everest. After the excursion,
return to Everest Base Camp for an overnight stay at camp.

Day 12: Drive to Cho Oyu Base Camp – 4,900 m

Drive approximately 150 km toward
Cho Oyu Base Camp. Enjoy the dramatic Tibetan plateau
and Himalayan landscapes along the journey. Overnight at camp at
approximately 4,900 meters.

Day 13: Excursion to Cho Oyu Base Camp

Take an excursion to Cho Oyu Base Camp. Spend
approximately 5 hours exploring the spectacular surroundings and enjoying
views of the world’s sixth-highest mountain. Return to camp for the night.

Day 14: Trek Back and Drive to Zhangmu

Trek back toward Driver Camp and continue the journey by
vehicle to Zhangmu. After the remote high-altitude
experience, enjoy a comfortable overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 15: Drive to Kathmandu – Trip Ends

After completing the necessary border formalities, drive
back to Kathmandu. Your Kharta Valley and Everest-region
adventure comes to an end upon arrival in Kathmandu.
